“At Google, we’re dedicated to helping content creators easily bring and share high-quality video onto the Web without sacrificing speed or the user experience,” said Matt Frost, head of strategy and partnerships for the Chrome Web Media Team. Google is of course glad to see developers build plugins around their tech: WebM is an open web media project headed up by Google, aimed at developing “a high-quality, open video format for the web that’s freely available to everyone.” The format has been around for quite some time, but today’s release from Fnord Software means that support is now making its way to Adobe’s products, allowing editors to encode WebM content within their Premiere timelines. But the plugin doesn’t just add WebM support to Premiere Pro CC, but also other parts of Adobe Creative Cloud including Adobe Media Encoder and more. Fnord Software has today announced that they’re releasing a free plugin for Adobe Premiere Pro CC that adds support for Google’s WebM video format.
